AR's Fall Festival

For AR's first family birthday, we decided to have a fall festival at the park. Memaw made AR an adorable pillow case dress with matching bow and moccasins.

We decorated with hay bells, mums, scarecrows, pumpkins, sunflowers and corn stalks.

Food wise, my wonderful mom and grandmother made spice cupcakes that were to die for. We also had hot dogs grilled by Daddy, chex mix, apples w/caramel, and cheese squares. For favors, we gave away chocolate covered pretzel sticks, chocolate cookie sandwiches on a stick, and chocolate candy scarecrows all made, wrapped and tagged by my wonderful mother and grandmother {I helped a little}.

So I figured with it being the first week in October, the weather would be comfortable, the leaves would begin to change, and the rain would do us a favor and stay away! Well I was wrong being the cold front came through with the rain the day of the party. However, the party was a wonderful success!

We had a hay ride that we were able to get in before it rained.

Actually the rain began as the tractor was on its way back.

We also had face painting,

a scarecrow craft project,

and sugar cookie decorating.

I think all of the children enjoyed themselves.

AR was not in a great mood. She got very aggravated with everyone wanting to hold her, hug her and take her from her Mommy. She was perfectly content sitting on her blanket playing with her riding toys!

After the hay ride {which we did at the very beginning of the party} we opened presents. AR is always riping paper to shreds and emptying her diaper bags, so I figured she would be all about opening some presents. Nope...she wanted nothing to do with it. The first present we opened had a tiny Tinkerbell cell phone in the bottom of it and it was the only toy AR would have anything to do with.

She didn't look at anything else and would not even try to open her presents. We got lots of wonderful clothes, tons of books, puzzles, bath toys, a rocking horse, a riding toy, wagon, beanbag and lots of other things!

After presents, we did cake! Aunt Shelia made AR's sunflower cake and did an awesome job!

Of course, AR was all about tearing into her cake but for some reason got fed up with it fast. She was so tired and completely over everything..

All in all it was a success! We had a wonderful time and would do it all over again in a heart beat!

Hopefully next year, AR will be in better spirits for her joint b'day party with Alston in a few weeks! We'll see!

All of these people worked so Heath and I could enjoy the party with AR! We have such a wonderful group of family and friends! We truly love you all!!
