Friday morning, AR and I got up bright and early to meet up with Heath's aunt and head to the airport. We checked our flight to make sure we were on schedule and headed towards Birmingham. While getting our baggage checked we were told that our flight had been delayed an hour which was no big deal because that gave me plenty of time to get through security, change a diaper, refill a sippy cup and grab some breakfast before we got on a 2 hour flight to Houston. While eating our cereal in the airport, I heard the announcement that our flight was now delayed until 2:30 which would cause us to miss our connecting flight from Houston to San Antonio. While waiting hours to speak to someone so we could get another flight out of Houston, I listened as our flight kept being put off longer and longer. It went from 2:30 to 3:30 to 5:30 and eventually was delayed until 6:00 Friday evening. Since it takes over 2 hours to fly to Houston and the last flight out of Houston to San Antonio was at 8:00, I knew we were not going to get to see Daddy until Saturday. After finally talking to someone, we made the decision to change our flight to 10:05 Saturday morning and go home and sleep in our own bed instead of hanging around the airport all evening and sleeping in a hotel in Houston. So we called for a ride to come pick us up from the airport and headed home for the night. Needless to say, we were very disappointed.
Saturday morning, we did it all over again. When we arrived to the airport to find out our flight was on time! We got on our plane a few minutes before 10:00 and made our way towards Dallas. AR did amazing. She looked out the window, she drank her juice and just talked away. About 30 minutes before we landed she got comfortable and fell asleep in my lap. As the plane started going down she started tugging on her ears and eventually woke up crying. She couldn't handle or understand why her ears were popping. She ended up falling back to sleep once she got relief from the popping. When we landed in Dallas, we decided to make our way to our next terminal and grab a bite of lunch. We had a 2 hour lay over in the Dallas airport and plenty of time to waste. AR woke up midway through lunch in a great mood and was energized for the rest of the trip. After lunch we found a seat and waited to board our plane to San Antonio. AR got very antsy so I turned on a movie on the lap top and gave her a sucker and she was content!!
AR stayed awake the whole flight to San Antonio. She did very well and I made sure to start feeding her teddy grams and giving her sips of juice as the plane began to land. Her ears bothered her a little but not enough to upset her. I will definitely make sure she is awake and eating/drinking when we make our way back home. When we FINALLY got to San Antonio and saw our Daddy, AR wrapped her arms around him and hung on. It was such a sweet moment. In the car, all she could do is look at him and giggle! She loves that Daddy! Over the last few days we have done a lot of riding and sight seeing. Daddy showed us around all day Sunday and AR pretty much slept the whole time. The trip absolutely wore her out.
Daddy of course has to work this week so the girls have been shopping. We found 2 big outlet malls that are side by side so we spent 2 days shopping at the outlets.
We are having a great time here in San Antonio and look forward to many more fun filled days and lots of hugs and kisses from Daddy. I will make sure to take lots more pictures and make lots more updates!
