Wonderful Weekend

Daddy had scheduled a flight to come home Friday night. If everything turned out just right he should have been at the Birmingham airport at 9:30 pm waiting for me and AR to pick him up! Of course, nothing turned out just right. He arrived at the San Antonio airport around 5:00 for a 6:30 flight. Around 6:00 he called and said his flight had been delayed because the Houston airport was not letting anyone land due to severe weather. Well the weather never let up and Houston never opened the airport back up so around 9:00 his flight from San Antonio to Houston was cancelled. As our very aggravated Daddy began to make the journey out of the airport to his truck he heard them call over the intercom that they were boarding a plane to Jackson, Mississippi. This flight was suppose to also stop in Houston but since they couldn't make the stop they were going fly all the way to Mississippi. Heath called me and quickly told me he was changing his flight and would be in Jackson, Mississippi around 11:00.  Therefore, I needed to find him a rental car so he could drive home or send someone or myself on the 4 hours drive to Jackson to pick him up. I frantically began calling around trying to find him a rental car but all the rental car places closed at 11:00 and he wasn't scheduled to land until 11:00. There was only one rental place that had a car available but the man was very instant that they would cut out lights and lock up at 11:00 and would not wait around on him. Not knowing if Daddy would make it to Jackson by 11:00, I lined up his mom and step dad to start the drive. Thankfully, he landed at 10:50 and after making the phone call to his parents to turn around {they only made it to Bessemer} he tiredly drove a long 4 hours home. He finally rolled in the driveway around 3:00 am.

The noise of him arriving ended up waking AR. When Daddy finally got settled and into bed we heard pitter patter of feet running down the hall. When AR saw her sweet Daddy laying in the bed she was very unsure of what to think. She just sat in the floor and gave him a very confused look. She warmed up very quickly and jumped and wrapped her arms around his neck and held on tight. Of course, she ended up sleeping with us the rest of the night! Our sweet Daddy's trip home didn't turn out as planned but we were so thankfully he arrived safe and sound!

On Saturday, we had to return the rental car and then get ready to attend our "Non Baby Shower." It kind of sounds like we were having a shower because we are not having a baby...ha!...but really it was a chance for Heath's large family to get together, grill out, and spend some time with each other while Heath was home and also shower baby Westin with lots of gifts. Baby showers make me very uncomfortable and after already having two I really didn't want another one. Of course, Heath's family wanted to do something so we came up with this. No formal invites were sent out {just phone calls and facebook messages}. No punch and cake {just coke, tea, juice, water and adult beverages for those who could drink them and some very yummy cupcakes}. No nuts and mints {just Boston but, burgers, and hot dogs}. No baby shower games {just water slides, swing sets, and many games of washers}. No one {well almost no one} wrapped the gifts either. They were brought in in the store bags they were bought from and layed out on a table. Therefore, I didn't have to sit in front of everyone and open gifts and ooh and ahh about everything. Can you tell I hate baby showers??
Here are a few pictures from our Non Baby Shower.

On Sunday, we made an all day trip to the Galleria. Daddy and I both had a small shopping list of things we wanted and I also wanted to get AR's ears pierced! Since it was in the forecast to rain most of the day, I figured the Galleria would be a perfect place for us to hang out for the day! Our first stop was lunch and then a first time carousel ride. AR loved it and would wave frantically every time she would make her way around and see me. It was absolutely hilarious!

We then had to stop and buy each of us a cookie because Westin has been craving some chocolate chip cookies these days. We then made a few stops to buy Daddy a new hat and a few National Championship t-shirts since he has yet to buy a single one. Isn't that surprising? We made a quick run through Belk to buy these fat feet of mine some flip flops and made our way to Claire's {which is now the Icing..FYI} for the dreaded ear piercing. AR did awful. She began crying the moment they tried to mark her ears. After being nice and patient for about 30 minutes, I, along with another store associate, held her down while two other associates pierced her ears. Now, I would not have done this if AR was in pain or if she was scared. She was neither. She just did not want anyone messing with her. As soon as her ears were pierced I put her on the ground so she could run to her Daddy's rescue. As soon as those little feet hit to floor she was all smiles. Therefore, I know it didn't hurt :) Little stinker! So, yay!! We have our ears pierced finally!

Before

During

After

We decided to call it a day after that exhausting experience and made our way back home!

On our way home, I sent out a few text and made a few phone call sharing the news that AR got her ears pierced! When we called Auntie Sarah, we were greeted with, "MY WATER JUST BROKE!" So after a quick birthday dinner with Nana, we sent AR home with her and headed to the hospital to await the arrival of baby Maggie!!
