Christmas with Granny

Every Christmas Eve at 12:00 we go to Granny Waldrop's to celebrate Christmas. We have so much fun over there because with such a big family, there is a lot going on! This year, all the boys {men} and kids played wifell ball outside while the "grown ups" finished preparing the food. They had so much fun. So much fun in fact that they decided to keep playing even when it started raining. Heath has been sore for 4 straight days but he always has so much fun playing with all of his little cousins. Ava Reese got lots of loving, of course, but wasn't in the mood for it at all. She was good for a few hugs, kisses, and pictures, but after awhile, all she wanted to do was lay on her blankets under the ceiling fan and be left alone! Oh...is she her mothers child!

After our yummy lunch of fried chicken, dressing, casseroles, potatoes, and lots of desserts it was time to open gifts. Heath's Granny insists on buying gifts for the whole family which is so sweet of her because Heath's family is huge. His dad is 1 of 7 children and all seven of them had a least one child and some of those children have children. She buys for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as their spouses. Heath got an Alabama cooler which was perfect for him, I got a really cute Hallmark bracelet and Ava Reese got some books, a couple of stuffed animals, and a ladybug necklace.

This year, the family decided to all chip in a give Granny a really nice digital picture frame. Every year, Granny gets so many framed pictures of her family but she doesn't have enough room in her house to put all of the frames. So instead of everyone giving her a frame this year, we all just sent pictures to be loaded onto the digital picture frame. Granny had no idea what it was when she opened it but after we plugged it in and let the pictures roll, she sat in her chair for the rest of the afternoon watching all the pictures. SHE LOVED IT! It was perfect for her!

After we opened our gifts from Granny we played Dirty Santa. Since it is such a large family, having everyone bring a $20 gift to play Dirty Santa is the way to go. We have a great time playing and it always gets "dirty" when gifts start getting stolen! This year, the hot items were pocket knives! Last year, it was throw blankets... When the adults are finished playing Dirty Santa, then the kids get to play. Heath got some kind of toy gun with ammo when he was playing Dirty Santa with the adults, so he wrapped his gifts back up and decided to play with the kids. It was so funny. Heath stole the Harry and the Henderson's DVD {he wanted it SO bad} from his cousin, Casey, but by the end of the game he ended up with Dominoes. He is such a kid at heart!

When the gift giving stealing was over, it was time to say our good byes and head to the next house! We had a wonderful Christmas at Granny's this year as we do every year and look forward to spending time with the WHOLE family on Easter!

Merry Christmas Granny and all the Waldrop Family!
